About The Sentinel
Wikipedia can answer this better than I ever could, but to sum it up, The Sentinel was a tv show that aired in the late 1990s, about a detective with super senses (superhuman sight, hearing, taste, smell, feel), Jim Ellison, and his partner and guide in all things mystical and academic, Blair Sandburg. They seem oddly matched at first, but they soon become best friends, and are excellent partners. This show had quite an original premise, and featured very well-written characters, which the actors brought a lot of depth to. It's easy to fall in love with the gang at the Cascade Police Department, and to get caught up in the mythology of the Chopec, a Peruvian tribe of natives from which Jim's special abilities have a long history.
The Sentinel is well-missed, but it is a testament to its fans that when the show was cancelled after three seasons, they succesfully campaigned to get another 8 episodes, for a partial season. This allowed the storylines to be wrapped up and the fans to say goodbye. (Those were the good old days of TV, huh?)
